Details:
David Baillie has composed the words and music of all fourteen songs on his CD and has the benefit of his own accompaniment to complement his articulate approach in the interpretation of a song.

In addition to radio and television, David has entertained capacity audiences in every concert hall of note throughout Scotland and, in harmony with John Mason MBE conducting Strings of Scotland or the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra the blend has proved a recipe for rousing and standing ovations.

David''s interest in music was evident at a very early age when listening and imitating some of the great entertainers on radio. This interest continued when, like most in his age group, he was called to National Service and spent two years in the Royal Air Force. This allowed him some free time to study singing under the watchful eye of Albert Dudley in Edinburgh and thereafter in Glasgow where, with the Andrew Macpherson Singers in theatre and television appearances he was able to fill baritone and tenor roles. Then a successful audition gave him an immediate engagement to sing with the Strings of Scotland and the special occasions when it was augmented to form the widely acclaimed Scottish Fiddle Orchestra. This kept him busy for twelve years when, not wishing to encourage bad luck in the thirteenth year, he retired to fulfill another of his ambitions to compose and perform his own songs. They are designed to entertain, inspire and fuel the reminiscence of a senescent audience but the equally appreciative response of those aiming to join this elite group has been most encouraging.

David was born in Jedburgh situated south of Edinburgh. He later moved with his parents and family to various places in Scotland where his father was promoted to fill the railway station master posts. This meant that David attended six schools before following in his fathers footsteps and sharing his avid interest in the life and works of Robert Burns, the great poet of Scotland. David has travelled far in his acceptance of countless invitations to attend Burns Suppers where, in addition to proposing the legendry toasts, his versatile approach extends to reciting his poems and singing his songs.

“Homecoming Scotland” and the 250th. Anniversary of Robert Burns’ birth will be two major events starting in late 2008 and winding throughout 2009. It is hoped to encourage an influx of relatives, friends and visitors from all over the world to play their part in making both events memorable occasions. There is no doubt of the debt Scotland owes to Robert Burns. His contribution in poetic works and songs has placed him high in the records of fame. David has given vent to his achievements in his tribute “Our Poet of Ayr” specially launched along with “Beauties of Scotland” to mark two very special occasions. Both songs and twelve others are presented here for your approval. Thank you for listening.
