"The Inspirational Jazz Artist"
There is often someone who comes along that makes us sit up and pay attention. Someone who reaches our hearts at a level much deeper than the normal or usual...someone who speaks to the "SOUL" because that voice holds value, honesty, and integrity. Pay attention...this
Inspirational Jazz Artist just may be that someone.
-From a Friend
As a young child in Okolona, MS, Kimberly Adair loved to sing and perform when no one was watching. When confronted with an opportunity to perform her first solo in church at the age of five, she tried to shy away. However, her Grandmother, Mother, and Father encouraged her to go for it. Kimberly had no idea of the impact this performance would have on her life and the great things that she was being prepared for.
As a student of piano from the age of 7, she immersed herself into the constructions of many styles of music, preferring writing to performance. For a while Kimberly continued to run from the spotlight, but the child had a voice that people just loved to hear. It was not until her senior high school year that Kimberly was hit with the spirit of wanting to sing.
Kimberly was a member of the Okolona Elementary, Junior High, and High School Band where she played clarinet, bells, xylophone, keyboard, and drums. Music consumed nearly every part of her life. Her home was even filled with the joyful sounds music. You can say that Kimberly''s musical capabilities were "passed down" from her mother who sings and plays the piano, her father who sings and plays the guitar, and her grandmother who could "sang the devil right out of the door". With all of this musical background, it was a surprise to many people when Kimberly chose a career in Biology.
Kimberly graduated from Okolona High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Rust College in Holly Springs, MS. After her college graduation in 1998, Kimberly arrived in Memphis, TN in order to continue her education at The University of Tennessee. Although Kimberly dreamed of becoming a Pediatrician, her dream of a career in music was even greater.
For years Kimberly made many attempts to emerge into the music industry as a recording artist. She experienced many disappointments and empty promises. Kimberly was forced to take on jobs that had nothing to do with music. However, Kimberly never gave up. After a four year career as an elementary science teacher among other careers, Kimberly stepped out on faith and began to pursue her dreams of becoming a recording artist by establishing her own independent record label, Meant 2 B Records.
Kimberly has experienced many loses, difficult obstacles and heartaches; and there are yet many more miles to go, but Kimberly doesn''t foresee herself giving up now. With God on her side along with much prayer and support from family, friends, and fans, Kimberly Adair will succeed.
