Laura MacLean began her music career as a voice. Classically trained, she left the notion of singing opera for the enticement of recording projects and rock bands- thus bringing her from Boston to New York.
It was there that she discovered the wonderful world of Jazz- and avidly studied the noted jazz & blues divas. Her vocal talent brought her around the world, singing jazz, rock and European pop, but it was in New York that she met a local producer who encouraged her writing abilities.
Since then, Laura has developed her writing and created her own sound- in the category of alternative rock. After teaming up with producer Steve Addabbo (Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin; Dar Williams), their song, "Does She Know", received airplay at an independent network of radio stations in New Zealand and did very well with listener response. MacLean toured the country during 2004, opening for New Zealand icon, Midge Marsden.
Laura now co-produces her material under her own label, ElleMac Music. Her EP was on the air this year at KUMU lite F.M. in Honoulu- marking her first airplay in the States. She now has air support from New England stations 92.5 The River and WFNX. Laura performs regularly at popular music venues in Manhattan, and New England.
