Details:
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Rich Nimkie developed eclectic tastes in music at an early age including: Iron Maiden, Metallica, Billie Holiday, Bob Marley and Elliott Smith. Rich’s reserved demeanor contrasts strongly with a candid and unbridled stage presence. With a voice compared to Elliott Smith and Davey Havok (of AFI), Rich delivers a mix of styles and genres using poetic and brutally honest lyrics. His masterful control of the acoustic guitar enables him to evoke strong feelings contained within his songs.
Throughout Rich’s career, he has found himself in a variety of groups ranging from punk, to garage, to heavy metal and cover bands. Working with such a variety of musicians has played a huge part in the evolution of his music. Rich’s career was forever altered when a side project entitled, “Autumns Forgotten” a four song demo (2006) received such a positive response, Rich has been recording as a solo artist ever since.
Following “Autumns Forgotten,” his first full-length “Center St.” (2007), gives you an insight to the butterflies he stores inside, delivered with his unique humbled voice. Backing “Center St.” Rich has been playing shows at venues including: The Yucatan Jam (Yucatan, MN), The Rave/Eagles Ballroom and The Miramar Theater (both located in Milwaukee, WI).
Rich is currently writing for his second release; scheduled to be recorded later this year. With each new song, he continues to reach into his bucket of insecurities, ringing out the rag with a new sound of hope and perseverance. There have been some rumors about new instrumentation incorporation on his second release, along with maybe some collaborations, I guess time will only tell.
