Artist biography: Lori Nicely is Washington, DC''s, fresh new talent for composing contemporary piano and instrumental music. Lori''s songs have been included on the play lists of several Top 10 Adult Contemporary/Smooth Jazz
radio stations.
Lori has composed for C-SPAN''s Peabody Award
Winning "American Presidents: Life Portraits" series, the 2000 Gracie Allen Awards in New York, and she was the
opening act, performing live at the 2002 "America''s Jazz Festival", in Washington, DC, which featured national artists including David Sanborn. Her piano rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" was featured as the opening music for Washington, DC''s, Chris Core radio talk show.
Lori''s greatest musical influence is unmistakably Top 40 composer and producer David Foster. For her debut CD, "Our Secret", Lori teamed with Foster''s long-time sax soloist for movie soundtracks and pop hits, David Boruff, who
produced and is featured on several of her singles, including "Our Secret", "When You Are Here", "Too Late", "X", and "Remember When". Lori''s
"Foster-esque" composing style of lyrical piano with lush chords introduces a whole new level to popular instrumental music. Also featured on her debut CD as an accompanist is guitarist Thom Rotella, composer of theme for TV hit show
"Extra" (2003); underscore composer for HBO''s "Sex and the City" (2003); and has worked alongside pop mainstream greats Bette Midler and Cher.
Lori is a natural and taught herself to play the piano at age nine and was composing by age 14. She was formally trained in trumpet at age 12 and performed jazz, concert, and rock/pop music through college. Lori also plays
acoustic guitar.
