John Luskey
Singer/Songwriter
John Luskey, a Maryland Native and the son of a Vietnam Veteran and a former NASA employee, was born on Andrews Air force Base. That may explain his love of history and of large transportation vehicles, but his love of music started years later.
At the age of thirteen, John had discovered he had the gift of entertaining. One summer day he found his Dad''s guitar in the attic and his life would change forever. By the end of that summer, John had learned enough guitar to join a band and he wrote his first song.
Over the years, John continued playing in bands and writing. He decided to go to college, although his passion was music. As a means to put him through school, John started performing a one-man show in the Maryland suburbs. His first show was at a local dive and the audience numbered about 30. Just 4 years later, John Luskey would be the opening act for The Righteous Brothers, The Moody Blues, and 10,000 Maniacs. As his solo show kept growing in stature, he decided it was time to record his first album "Suburban Poetry". And just a year and a half later, he released his second album "Anything''s Possible".
These musical snapshots of John''s life have sold thousands of copies and won numerous awards including the Billboard Magazine World Songwriting Contest for a song called When She Cries, Songwriters'' Association of Washington''s Honorable Mention for "Simple Pleasures" and Semifinalist for "Storm Outside" as well as Runner up in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for "Honky Tonk Rhythm. With literally hundreds of tunes in his arsenal and 1-2 new songs per week, his third album is on the horizon. John has performed in a variety of bands over the years, such as Nasty Habit, Midnight Special and His Boy Elroy.
As a full-time musician, John performs six nights a week either solo, or with the "John Luskey Band".
John''s musical style is positive, upbeat, energetic and full of feel-good melody.
Keep your eye out for this guy as the only thing more powerful than his music is his drive and determination to get the music heard.
