The follow-up to 2003''s "Life & Times" (also available from CD Baby), John Minton''s "Going Back to Vicksburg" features thirteen new rooted originals, performed by John and his friends the Possum Trot Orchestra and the Flying Suraci.
John Minton has been playing American roots music for over thirty years, first around his hometown of Houston, Texas, later in Nacogdoches then Austin, more recently in and around Fort Wayne, Indiana. Besides performing himself, he has long pursued the topic as a teacher, researcher, and writer. He is currently Professor of Folklore at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, where he teaches a wide range of courses on folk and popular music. He has also published numerous articles and books on the music and folk culture of the American South.
