It’s the rush of watching them hit the stage and the blood-pumping energy of their live performance that grips their audience: gritty, bluesy-rocking guitars, powerful drums and percussion, grooving keyboards, danceable bass lines, and emotion-filled vocals. Steppin’ Out communicates with their audiences and lives for the experience. Their music is defining of their musical influences, yet hard to place on the radio dial. It’s a blend of singer-songwriter, blues and vintage rock’n’roll styles. Last year marked the release of a batch of songs on Steppin’ Out EP that were a long time coming. Penned by guitarist/vocalist Pat Dermody, the songs have a solo-acoustic origin. Once introduced to the band, the songs exploded with creativity and found true resolution. The chemistry amongst the band members is amazing and their passion and excitement is worn on their sleeves. Steppin’ Out was formed in 2003. The band''s name is derived from Eric Clapton and John Mayall''s genius instrumental piece from 1966. Steppin’ Out began as a blues and vintage rock’n’roll cover band and has transitioned to writing their own music while still showcasing their musical influences. As the years have gone by with weekend after weekend of shows, the band has grown to its current 4-piece line up who has been together for almost three years. Playing marathon shows and driving anywhere to play their music, the band has had over 100 performances in the last year including shows at Summerfest, WI State Fair, Harley Davidson''s 105th, Riversplash, Venetian Fest, Shank Hall, Camp Jeep and the Bradley Center. Chosen to be on the Sirius Satellite Radio—Emerging Artist Stage at Camp Jeep, Steppin’ Out was featured in the November 2006 SPIN Magazine issue. With the release of their self-titled EP and alot of new material waiting to be recorded in the studio, Steppin’ Out is hungry to play their music to new audiences. Working hard to make a name for themselves in Milwaukee, the band proves itself every night on stage and looks forward to every opportunity to play.
