Converse Richter grew up in the Chelsea Hotel during the late 70''s and early 80''s. An environment heavily influencing the Art, Music, and drug scene that defined Manhattan during this time period. In order to encapsule the lifestyle of some of these Artists a young writer collected and sifted through the trash of various of these icons living and staying within the walls of the Chelsea Hotel. Which he would then use the information gathered to publish various articles which became popular upon the people populating New York City in the early eighties. Hence the name Chelsea Trash.
