Details:
Kim McLean has walked in both the secular and the sacred worlds claiming that in both, the songs given to her were God''s. This entire project was created out of a need to heal a broken heart...hers. Thus the name, Soul Solace was given to a collection of praise songs and Scripture set to music, both originals by Kim McLean who is a Dove award winning songwriter, and songs that helped hide Scripture in her heart back in the 70''s Maranatha movement.

The creator of the International Women''s Conference, "Come To the Fire" theme, Kim McLean brings an inspired song to this project and the 2008 conference, "I Found A Promise".

One the most powerful forces in Kim McLean''s songwriting growth happened in her home state of North Carolina in the 70''s, when Reba Rambo and Donnie McGuire led a songwriting seminar Kim attended. To this day, Kim credits that seminar for setting her on a path to create well crafted and Scripturally sound songs. On this project, she chose to record one of Reba Rambo''s songs that had impacted her heavily during that time.

Over two hundred songs of Kim McLean have been recorded by artists like Tim McGraw, Trisha Yearwood, The Martins, Vestal Goodman, The Nelons, Sierra, LordSong, Misty Freeman, Lee Ann Womack, and more. Many of her gospel songs have become classics performed by churches around the world, and landing her onstage for a performance in 2002 with Gerald Crabb, Jeff Pearson, and the late Dottie Rambo as four of the legends of gospel songwriting.

Co-produced and engineered by her dear friend, songwriter/producer Joe Johnston, and mastered by Rodney Mills in Atlanta, Soul Solace comes from an intimate place of worship. The CD cover has one single tear that is seen throughout the cover art, a tear that waters the sunflower. As the CD was being recorded, a chrysalis adorned the door of the studio. Upon completion of the last song, Kim left the studio to find the cocoon open. A beautiful white butterfly, fresh from the chrysalis, began fluttering around her and chose to rest from its escape. It stayed for quite some time, just to remind Kim that a new day is possible for all of us.

Soul Solace was a gift sent by God to heal a songwriter''s heart. Kim McLean felt that if it healed her heart, it might heal others. It''s soothing and sweet with God''s Word flowing throughout. This is an album for quiet personal worship and beckons the listener to sing along. Accompanied only by a simple acoustic guitar and some harmony vocals, Soul Solace allows music to open the door to tears, comfort, and peace to all who listen.
