Details:
The Public Library play a homemade hybrid of garage folk and creaking pop, using an array of devices which include echo boxes, delay pedals, soft distortion dynamics, and acoustic guitars with buzzing strings.
Now located in Edmonton, The Public Library were created in a basement in Vancouver as a studio project to record all of the songs which had been written and collected in aging notebooks. These songs trail together like scenes of leaving, returning, old photographs, and empty houses.
The Public Library acknowledge an appreciation for The Velvet Underground’s straight strum-like-a-train rhythms, the hiss and flaked rust of Guided By Voices’ production aesthetics, and the lyrical warmth of Little Wings.
