"voguFisch" (which means "birdfish" in English) is a new project by singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Beat Hüppin from Switzerland, who is also the main person behind the rock/blues/country project "Blue Beat & The Tumblin Donkeys".
Just as with BBTD, Beat shows again that he''s influenced by many different musical genres. Other than BBTD, however, this album features less blues and country influences. It''s basically strong singer-songwriter rock, with an occasional nod to hard rock, some ballads, some uptempo rockers à la Bruce Springsteen. The songs are always melodic and carefully arranged.
The lyrics on the album, written in Swiss German dialect, are mainly thoughtful and lyrical stuff, dealing with situations and feelings Beat actually experienced. You could say that they''re more or less like BBTD''s lyrics minus the funny stuff. The Swiss German dialect is fascinating to listen to, even if you actually don''t understand a word! Needless to say, the language works perfectly with Beat''s music.
This album was released in September 2008 on Beat''s own label "More Guitar Records", simultaneously with the second BBTD album. Again, this album showcases Beat''s remarkable talent as songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, while he also produced, recorded and mixed the album all on his own.
