Her Next Friend is pleased to announce the release of their third Antipoison Records CD, Disaster Casual. This eight-song recording is a departure for the Northern Virginia-based rock band, both heavier and more melodic than their earlier efforts. The songs are lyrically pointed and musically rich, reflective of a seasoned band that’s still evolving as a unit after two prior CDs.

New drummer Alex Kuldell—fresh from the U.S. Army’s Fife and Drum Corps—kicks the sound into a higher gear. Additional flavor comes from another newcomer—keyboardist Ariel Francis. Singer/guitarist John Burton’s darkly humorous lyrics (available on https://www.tradebit.com) continue his tradition of wry, cynical observation and the production reflects the band’s long-standing relationship with producer/engineer Mike Harvey of Actiondale Studios. This recording is HNF’s most fully realized yet, and is in many ways the CD the band has been trying to make from the beginning.

Prior HNF releases received extensive airplay on college and internet radio stations, including WXDU, Radio Puget Sound, WKNC, WRIR, WBRS, XM Radio, WWUH, Radio Indie Pop, WTHS, Radio Crystal Blue and Radio Free Abattoir.

Bassist John Rapoza has played with The Beanstalk Library and Union Label, among others. Burton has played with Forever Goldrush and Chicken Biscuit, while Kuldell is also a veteran of the noted Celtic rock band Scythian.
