Without Mercy is a female-fronted thrash metal band from Vancouver, B.C. Formed in 2004, the band is focused on devouring the world one pub at a time. They are influenced by old-school thrash, blues, death/black metal; pretty much anything that is unforgiving and aggressive.
2007 was a definitive year for Without Mercy. Not only did it mark the addition of new drummer Matt Helie, but also the release of their debut EP All Else Fails. This four track (short but sweet; in an antifreeze type of way) debut was created with the blood, sweat and tears of each member. Their guitar and bass driven sound is the result of the collaboration and technical skill of DJ Temple (guitars) and Dallas Lacey (bass). While DJ throws down faster then hell riffs and spine-tingling solos, Dallas moves into the fore with his own creative bass licks and skull-crushing sound. Matt Helie turns the eardrum annihilation up a notch with his powerful double-kicks and diverse rhythmic stylings. On top of all that, throw the aggression and anger expressed in the extreme vocals of female front-woman Alxs into the mix and you have one solid, heavy f*cking band.
Harnessing a DIY, balls to the wall attitude, Without Mercy has put forth All Else Fails as an unsigned, independent act. Each song is original and the product of dedication and a true love for metal. They have received positive reviews from magazines and newspapers including Abort magazine and SFU’s The Peak. In addition, tracks from “All Else Fails” have received some airtime in various community and University Radio stations across Canada.
