KIND OF TRIO:
Kind of Trio heralds the musical partnership of two giants in the cool world of jazz music: legendary pianist Mark Kramer, and Eddie Gomez, one of the best known and most famous of all jazz bass players.

This CD includes "Yesterdays," the first tue they played together after meeting just moments before the downbeat.

With brutally honest, unrehearsed performances of jazz standards before a capacity audience, this CD reveals to rare global audiences a long overdue blimpse of Mark Kramer as a quintessential, unself-conscious jazz trio artist/pianist. Following his first appearance as a very young pianist, Mark has spent the ensuing decades playing with most of the jazz elites, and is now being recognized as a jazz piano Titan.

MARK KRAMER
Mark Kramer was born and raised in Philadelphia and has been a musician since the age of five, starting on classical violin before becoming a jazz pianist. He played with such local contemporaries as Michael and Randy Brecker and Stanley Clarke, has regularly led his own trios, and developed his own approach to jazz improvisation. Along the way he has quite a few major accomplishments including being the only pianist to record an entire classical symphony (note-for-note) with his trio, recording the complete scores for eight Broadway shows (a record for a jazz group), and turning the music of the Rolling Stones into jazz (on the CD Stonejazz). As an arranger, composer producer and engineer, he has made an important if often-unheralded contribution to music, but it is as a pianist that he is most significant.

EDDIE GOMEZ
Eddie Gómez was born in Puerto Rico, grew up in New York, and was a bassist from the age of 11. After graduating from Julliard in 1963, he became greatly in demand, a situation that remains unchanged. Gómez is most famous for being a member of the Bill Evans Trio during 1966-77 but he has also performed with virtually every top jazz and studio musician through the years, from Benny Goodman and Dizzy Gillespie to Miles Davis and Chick Corea.
