This EP was recorded by "The Oli Rockberger Band" in the run up to their UK debut at the Brecon Jazz Festival ''03 (other festival performers included Soweto Kinch, Jamie Cullum and Hiromi) and the disk has been a consistent seller online and at live dates since. A combination of instrumental jazz ("The Captain" was aired twice on the UK''s "Jazz FM" by DJ Mike Chadwick) and featuring some of Oli''s most popular vocal songs to date ("9-5" was aired on BBC''s "Jazz Connection" - DJ Andy Roberts, "This Old Man" was aired on "The Selector" internet radio - DJ Andrea Oliver), this record is a chance to hear Oli in a live trio setting with the excellent Tony Grey on bass and Chris Farr on drums.
London born singer/songwriter and piano player Oli Rockberger (25) won a Full Tuition Scholarship to study at Boston''s Berklee College of Music at age 17 after auditioning in Barcelona, Spain. Since then, Oli has performed at the Brecon Jazz Festival with his own group in 2003, The City Showcase in 2004 (UK), The Phoenix Jazz Festival in 2001 (Japan) and toured Ecuador with his trio in 2004, culminating in a performance at the US Consulate General''s residence. Written press includes UK Broadsheets ''The Times'' and ''The Daily Telegraph'' and a feature in online jazz magazine "All About Jazz", in which writer Phil Di Pietro described Oli as "a jazzy-R&B laced pop whiz kid...as much of a slam dunk talent as any artist I''ve ever reviewed or interviewed".
Major influences include:
Bruce Hornsby, Sting, James Taylor, The Yellowjackets and the Pat Metheny Group.
