My government name is Deshawn Robinson, but my friends call
me "D" or Shawn. My rap alias is A.M.R. which stands for Alfha Mael Rapper.

I was born in Virginia and moved to New Jersey when I was
ten years old. I grew up in East Orange, New Jersey as a teenager, and then moved to Edison, New Jersey when I was 18 years old.

I served seven years in the United States Navy. I was
stationed in Yokosuka, Japan and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. I have traveled all over Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.

I started rapping as a young teen. I was truly inspired as
a youth by the whole Hip-Hop culture and especially by lyrical geniuses such as Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, Slick Rick, Large Professor, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Antoinette, Poor Righteous Teachers, Common, Ice Cube, and LL Cool J.

Around the age of 17 years old, my friend Cornell Walters
was pushing me to do shows, make professional songs, and eventually get singed to a record label. But somehow, I got up in not taking myself serious, going to college, and thinking maybe Hip Hop just might be a fad. Man was I wrong.

A decade or so later, I started noticing that Hip Hop music
was generating billions of dollars, but the quality was starting to fade a little. Hip Hop of the 80's and 90's was more original, intellectual, and pure. I do not dislike the songs that are out today. I just miss the days when emcees were actually saying something. Many Hip-Hop purist feel that Hip-Hop is dead. I do not think real Hip-Hip is dead. It has just evolved into an all-state and international financial phenomenon that is corporate driven. Artists are not as interested in making classic Hip Hop songs, as they are in trying to impress corporate executives. Revenue has been the main focus of Hip Hop music not the quality.

My slant is making millions of dollars without the help of a major record label. I rather be an independent artist so I can have complete control over my product. You can make money without having to do bubble gum.

Over the last two years, I decided that I should pick up
from where I started ten years ago. J Dillaâs âDilla Donutsâ inspired me to pursue my music career again. In the process, I taught myself how to make beats and engineer songs. I never thought, in a million years, that I would be a beat maker. I guess it's true what they say, "You can do anything if you put your mind to it." Now, I am totally independent in the creation of my music. I produce the beats, write the songs, and master-mix the songs without even leaving the house, actually without leaving the "basement."

I learned everything about the music business and the
production/engineering of music from the books that I bought from Barnes and Noble Book store and from my mentor, Lance Smith.

I hope everyone enjoys the Album: The Siknez
