After accepting Jesus as her Savior at an early age, Phyllis immediately recognized and answered the call to minister in song and to lead God''s people into a closer, more fulfilling fellowship with Him.
For many years, Phyllis has led others in joyful worship in many churches throughout the southeastern United States. Apart from her solo ministry, she has had the privilege of singing with a number of Gospel groups: The Gospel Crusaders (Bainbridge, GA); Restored Ensemble (Statesboro, GA); Chief Singers (Durham, NC); and Joy Ensemble (Durham, NC).
Phyllis began serving as church pianist at the age of thirteen, and has worked in that capacity for a number of churches in Georgia and North Carolina ever since. She has proven herself to be faithful and dedicated to her musical calling. After serving faithfully as the Praise and Worship coordinator for the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia, Phyllis recently moved back to Durham, North Carolina with her husband, Larry, and their three children. Currently, Phyllis serves as the Director of Music Ministries for her church, Beacon Light Missionary Baptist Church, in Durham, North Carolina.
The past years have revealed countless spiritual blessings and opportunities for Phyllis and her ministry. To name a few, she has ministered to soldiers on the Ft. Bragg Army Base (Fayetteville, NC), showcased at the New York International Independent Music Festival (Madison Square Garden), ministered at Grace Fest (Pensacola, FL), and ministered to the homeless women and children of the Raleigh Rescue Mission (Raleigh, NC).
Phyllis encourages, motivates and shares the love of Christ through songs that are a testimony of the joys and pains she has experienced. Her prayer is that all would experience and know the beauty...the joy...the peace...the blessed assurance that only Christ can give. Because her desire is to have a heart and mind like Christ, Phyllis has surrendered her life to be used of God. She believes that God is calling His people to a higher place of praise, and she has accepted the call to help lead them there.
