My earliest memories are about music. Listening to AM transistor radio and vinyl 45''s with a ceramic needle soon gave way to listening to New York''s WNEW-FM in the late 60''s. But the turning point in my musical life came when I first heard Eric Clapton on Best of Cream, a gift from my older sister Peggy. She thought I should listen to Ginger Baker, being that I was a drummer in the school band, but hearing Clapton''s soaring guitar solo in Spoonful delivered the jolt that turned my head and heart around forever.
For the last four decades, since around the age of 10, I have made the guitar my primary instrument. But I also play piano, drums, and anything else that crosses my path and belongs on a recording.
Songwriting didn''t become a serious passion of mine until the mid-90''s. I never thought I could write lyrics before then, yet I always loved the sound and etymology of words. Why didn''t I start sooner? Who knows.
I don''t know what I enjoy more, writing and recording my own songs, or playing for audiences both solo and with my band Thunderhouse. Come to think of it, I guess what I enjoy most is whatever I''m doing musically at the moment.
