G.T.K. was born Ricky Williams in Dallas, Texas. At the tender age of 10 years old, G.T.K. gave his life to Christ. He was raised in the church and has always had a relationship with God. He wrote secular raps since high school about the ways of the world and the life he was living as a form of expression. Renewing his relationship with Christ, he began writing for God and couldn’t wait to share it with the world. “May 2006…I was at work writing about what was on my heart, what I was feeling spiritually and about my relationship with God. As I was writing I realized that in some instances writing equates to prayer for me. I seem to be able to communicate my feelings better in the form of rhymes.”
G.T.K. considers his ministry as a form of praise and worship in his own personal way…lifting the name of Jesus Christ. “As I continued to write and grow in the faith I noticed not only did God speak to me…He also spoke through me.” He has been called to spread the Word of God and win souls through Gospel Hip Hop and “I have to live according to that purpose.” Ephesians 4:1
G.T.K. means Grow the Kingdom. “My initial purpose in the ministry is to win souls and encourage christians through my music. It may seem like a generic answer, but in reality people don’t bump Sunday’s sermon in their car or iPod…it’s music. I also want to show the world that Christian Artists are the truth and we can flow with the best of ‘em. Through Gospel Hip Hop, my goal is to spread the word of God with the hopes of winning souls and consequently fulfilling the Great Commission.” Matthew 28: 19-20
He is inspired by the four Gospels…Matthew, Mark, Luke and John…all depicting the life of Jesus from different perspectives. There are many artists spreading the Word of God, they come from different walks of life and are able to share their experiences to reach others and bring them to Christ. "God works through different men in different ways, but it is the same God who achieves his purposes through them all." 1 Corinthians 12:6
G.T.K’s first performance was July 2006 at his church musical and from there more ministry opportunities surfaced. He continues to minister at his church home, Koinonia in Arlington, Texas, on Youth Sunday.
G.T.K. released his first project a year later, a mixtape, entitled Rixtape Vol. 1. His highly anticipated debut album "decreased" is available now!!
