More like a diary entry than a musical collection, Reap the Bounty wanders into the eye of the storm with a woman raising two small children in northern michigan as the world spins around them like a tornado.
Aurally rich and deep, intimate and nourishing---
The innocence of these children, so rich and grounding, love found, love lost and the continual flow between life and what lies beyond is the fiber of this recording.
At the top of the stairs in the dark an acoustic guitar rings a lullaby to two small children as they drift off to sleep---
Greg Brown describes her voice as "clear spring water flowing from a place deep in the earth. It goes right to your heart".
Robin opened a show for Greg in Suttons Bay, Mi in the late ''80''s and again at the Blissfest in northern michigan a year later. Their friendship and his insightful and bold influence coaxed her heart and soul and music to reach deeper inward to expose the bones and sinew of that grit we call life.
"Tough but tender" he called her. That influence continues to reach way in there to call the brightest, most intense aspirations out of her darkest corners as only the truest friendships can and do.
Robin Lee Berry is a well-seasoned michigan based singer/songwriter and performer who has accumulated and finely tuned her skills as a singer, writer, guitar player and recording artist. Multi-faceted and hard to pigeonhole she glides between styles effortlessly and "reflects northern Michigan''s feminine soul, blending themes of strength, courage, and vulnerability in her songs, all rendered with the spirit of awe and optimism."
