True Dedication, the Rev. Robert Houston has always thought, is necessary for ministry.
He began living his dream at an early age. At 15 yrs. old, he served as an organist at the West Pittsburgh C.O.G.I.C. where he was raised in Pittsburg, California. After playing for various choirs, he began composing songs and later formed the group, "True Dedication." Shortly after, he connected with Covenant Records and released
His first album, "One Life to Live," included Eight spirit-filled songs written and arranged by Houston. The project produced enough sales for the group to release their second album, "Satisfied," featuring a remake of Sly and the Family Stone''s, "You Can Make It If You Try." At the Omer Awards, Kansas City''s Gospel Awards ceremony, Houston was nominated in four categories - Song of the Year (Moving Up), Best Contemporary Gospel Choir of the Year, Best Producer of the Year and was awarded the Best Contemporary Gospel CD of the Year 2001.
Performing experience includes 34 television appearances including the PTL show, "All Night Sing" and T.V. Talent Hour on networks such as Turner Broadcasting, Pax Broadcasting, and Warner Brothers. In New York, he mesmerized an audience Consisting of music publishers, television executives and record producers. The group was Chosen to sing in Donnie McClurkin''s new artist showcase which included seminars Taught by Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Ronald Winans, Frank Breeden and Teresa Hairston. The CDs "Release Your Faith" and "No Turning Back" are considered by many as a spiritual blessing.
