Martha Taylor LaCroix (aka Marti Lynn) began her musical career in Orleans, Louisiana as vocalist with the Dick Stabile Orchestra. The late Dick Stabile was former Musical Director for Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis. Her first album recorded—“Introducing Marti Lynn”, was produced by Wardell Quezergue of "Mr. Big Stuff" and "Express Yourself"— R&B hits of the 70s. Her disco version of "Who Can I Turn To" released in 1979 is still downloaded by disco enthusiasts. During her time in New Orleans, Ms. LaCroix sang in the chorus of the New Orleans Opera Company. After moving to Los Angeles she performed in the musical “Get Happy” (based on works of composer, Harold Arlen—“Somewhere Over the Rainbow” to name one of many—She was noted for her rendition of "Happiness is Just a Thing Called Joe."
"Silent Night" is an excerpt from her "Seasoned for Christmastime" CD. It is part of a haunting musical journey that embraces the true meaning of Christmas. The theme for this journey is a reminder to pass down through generations why the season is celebrated. "Seasoned for Christmastime" began as a Christmas present to her father. She now shares this labor of love to listeners worldwide.
She is the daughter of internationally acclaimed minister (retired), Dr. Gardner C. Taylor. He received the Medal of Freedom in 2000 from President Bill Clinton for his work as preacher & pioneer in the civil rights movement. He was a mentor to civil rights leader; Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
She links her music to the causes that enable ministers to rejuvenate & seek counsel when needed. This is done by creating venues that link active ministers with the wisdom and experience of retired ministers around the world. Her life experiences have added new depths to the songs she sings, particularly expressed by her seasoned approach to "Silent Night."
