Over the course of the past 5 years BURNT has managed to self-produce and compose 3 solid albums of original music (working on the fourth), independently book and promote over 500 shows (including a west coast tour from Mexico to Canada), and be featured on FM Radio (94.9 in San Diego). We''ve spent every dime we could earn and borrow, said goodbye to people we love, and sacrificed our precious time on this earth for our music.
Our music exists because of the tremendous energies of a small but dedicated number of people who are consistently putting forth their best creative works. By the very nature of the eclectic and multi-talented people who comprise the band, BURNT manages to avoid the one-dimensionality so common in the contemporary world of music-art. From hip hop to reggae to punk rock and ska - BURNT has made their home at the crossroads of cultures that is at the heart of underground music. Since 2003 the band has been active in both performance and songwriting. In the five years since its inception BURNT has self-produced over 40 tracks spanning three unique and colorful albums, each one distinct for its time and place - their approach to music-making can only be described as fearless. Without regard for words like genre and image, BURNT dives headfirst into uncharted musical waters. The band has performed for audiences in Mexico, Canada, and much of the West Coast of the United States. Armed with their musical message of social and environmental justice, BURNT has never hesitated to take the stage on behalf of a wide variety of causes important to them, including: the Save Trestles campaign to save San Onofre State Beach, WildCoast''s Clean Water Now action to save the Tijuana Estuary, UCSD STAND''s ongoing battle to end the genocide in Darfur, Sudan, to benefit the American Cancer Society, TsunamiAid, Katrina Relief and more. In the future, BURNT will continue to wow audiences and listeners around the world with their danceable revolutionary rhythms and consciousness raising rhymes.
