" this collection of ear pleasers certainly encompasses what the genre''s been missing over the last few years: irresistible originality and vibrancy...as close to perfect as one singer/songwriter can practically get..."
The Ear Magazine April 2003
"This CD will inspire you and stir your imagination...Play it at a party, and your friends will assume it''s an already established rock star they just haven''t caught on to yet".

There''s nothing funny about spending 4 years making a record. OK, maybe there is.
SG Lad seems to think so.
About Time, SG''s first release is a mix of songs that have been in the works for a few years. Making the record took forever because it''s hard for artists to let go. You can hear the severity in this songwriter''s approach from the first three minute song.
''Install'' was actually the fastest song to finish, that''s why he put it first. It''s the counter-song... And though the record has just been released, it''s already on the playlist at several college radio stations including wrsu and whcs.
This singer/songwriter/guitarist has been playing clubs in Boston (under several band names including Apriori) for the past 8 years. Such dates included The Paradise twice to a crowd of 600 people, without much press. The impressive turnout was due to good songs, word of mouth and good promotion. The fact he hardly got a mention in press during those early years is because he didn''t have a record. Now he does.
A few years ago he quit a cushy hi-tech job to embark on what he thought would be an easy project. He laughs: "I thought that once I write the songs, arrange them, had production thought out, made sure all the songs were ready from the first guitar lick to the last lyric it''d be a smooth ride." He came to learn that there''s much more to making a record, and that flying solo is not an easy task.
Since he recorded the tracks in Boston three years ago, he managed to take time off to travel the world; move to the New York''s East-Village and become a recording/mixing engineer. The record was mixed and mastered in NYC, and SG Lad now produces records for other artists. "I''ve always thought about things from an arrangement, and melodic-idea perspective. Making this record taught me about the shortest, safest, and cheapest route to get from here to there - from a vision to a presentable product, and how to reconcile that need, with the need for artistic-integrity and the importance of enjoying the process. I wish I knew that when I jumped into my own project." "There''s something so momentary about the creative process, you shouldn''t make life hard for yourself with too many afterthoughts." He had to stop working on the record more than once because of money, because of stress, because it''s hard to do it alone, for the first time.
Stylistically SG Lad has been compared to Third Eye Blind, Goo Goo Dolls and Radiohead. He grew up in Israel where Brit-pop is the rock genre of choice and it shows, one such place in the vocal sounds echoing with lush delays.
The name ''About Time'' was decided on at the last minute. "It fit the subject matter of these songs I wrote when I was younger. Many of them deal with time in one way or another - waiting for someone or something to happen, emotional procrastination. The name also helped me call it ''done'' and get pumped about the next step - promotion." He laughs again. "I have new material for another full record too, stay tuned!"
