Details:
Shelley''s Adult Contemporary World Music is a mix of velvet vocals, melodies, and rhythms: Folk, Pop, Jazz, Blues, Celtic, Latin, and Rock-N-Roll with an alternative flair. Her original music is accompanied by guitar, random percussion or a cappella. Her vocals offer a rare level of intimacy to the listener, and it has been said that Shelley''s voice has a soothing effect. The direction each song takes is unconventional, yet accessible. Melodic and poetic, her songs blend with unique rhythms to inspire inward reflection, outward expression and harmony in living. Shelley plays rhythm guitar, using either an Ovation acoustic/electric or Samick Royale semi-hollow body, and a Djembe drum by Remo as well as classic percussion instruments and piano. Collaboration and guest appearances are not uncommon when Shelley plays.

ROOTS
Shelley considers herself a child of the Southwest: she moved to Albuquerque when she was a year old, singing before she could talk. The culmination of what had budded in Albuquerque was a 3-year stint as lead singer for the locally and regionally-known band, Sub Culture, and the release of their independent recordings. On to Nashville in late 1991, her songwriting bloomed and expanded into the many directions you hear in her music today. Live solo performances took flight during her time in California, and that continued when she played in and around Phoenix where Shelley released her debut solo album, Origin of Flight, in 2004. The song, "5 Revolving Doors," is played regularly on college and internet radio. She has been in bands, drummed, sang back-up for various artists in many locales, and has created music for modern dance, special occasions and visual media. A LIFETIME MUSICIAN indeed!
