Details:
Hailing from Westchester County in New York, Signs of Rain is an original smooth jazz outfit that boasts the ambient and cinematic sound of New Age. Founded by brother in laws Glenn Dagrossa and Ronald John in 1999, the two met as members of 80''s metal sensation "Lazarus'' in 1988. After a five year career, they split up to complete their music education and start families. The two were reunited in 1997, renewed their friendship, and soon became brother inlaws and bandmates once more.
Starting slowly at first, the pair began to assemble other musicians and experimented with recording. By 1999 the band had become a 5 piece group, one of which was Pianist Warren Blyden. Work began on writing tunes which would later be featured on August Night, Autumn Sky. The CD was released in October of 2001.
August Night, Autumn Sky has won Signs of Rain acclaim from all points of the globe. The CD made the Top 10 of the International Unsigned Musicians Association Jazz, New Age, World Beat, and Easy Listening Charts its first week, and has remained there since 2001. Song Corazon de Leon became the official theme song to WKRQ''s Miami Latin Jazz show. A Brothers Bond was used by television show "20/20" in a segment on family. "The New Age of Smooth Jazz", stated the Jazz Times. "A meditation of the senses", wrote New Castle Times "...the gift of relaxation".
The rigorous recording, rehearsal, and performance schedules took its first two victims in 2001 and SOR would be without a percussionist and drummer. Disappointed, the band took a break to gather its wits. Ron went on to play with a cover band and continue his career in telecommunications, Glenn collected his thoughts and taught, and Warren returned to school. During the hiatus, the band kept in touch with is fans via the web, and logged its 20,000 web page visitor earlier in 2003.
In 2003 the band re-grouped as a three piece, refreshed an ready. With support musicians, they returned to the stage. With a new plan drawn up, the three began recording a follow up CD in April 2003 at their personal studio, "Studio On a Strap". The CD is due to be released this fall. The plan is to perform in support of the CD as much as possible.
