this is yet another chapter in someshines long history, don pursley is the lead singer/ writer in this once southern california based quartet, although idle for quite a few years as a complete unit, pursley continues to write and record in his santa maria ,california home/studio, inspired to pick his guitar up once again after hearing such newcomers as coldplay and the strokes, he''s managed to piece together 11 solid and catchy tunes which definetely sound better with the stereo up higher than normal, original members ken pacheco, mario ponce(currently fronting his band "grand spark)don pursley, and steve rikamaru, made up someshine, and their talents are showcased in the title song "crash landing" ."most of the songs are love songs" says don pursley, " all the songs say something, even if the lyrics dont make it too obvious, "i use alot of metaphors i guess".asked how this record came about? "well i started writing again last summer, and the songs were just coming fast and steady, i literally had about 40 songs to choose from, not wanting to have a long drawn out record i narrowed it down to 11 songs", and i decided to put a couple songs in there recorded a few years back."i hope eveyone that picks up this cd will enjoy it".influenced early on by the cars and talking heads, tastes expanded into bands on the other side of the pond such as echo and the bunnymen, the house of love, the jesus and marychain and the stone roses."all those bands were just so melodic, and their guitars sounded like guitars should sound". "im still hoping to write the perfect song one day"(chuckles pursley).what songs means the most to you on this cd,and why?(long pause) "essence of time" its one of those types of songs where you have to listen to it a few times, then it just clicks. what''s it about?(longer pause) "its about missing your chance to do something big" something memorable" "its about letting the hourglass go empty while time continues tick away and then trying to play catch-up". whats next? "well i''ll continue to write, but i''d like to do a proper recording of some earlier songs and give them the respect they deserve." good luck! "thank you"
