Biography
Who is Andre Lovelle? He’s an incredibly talented singer/songwriter unfamiliar to the public today. Born Andre Lovelle Vierra, in Providence RI, the twenty-five year old talent has been quietly developing his unique style of music for ten years. It started out as a love for Hip-Hop and R&B music, and a God-given gift to create it. Andre taught his younger cousin how to beat box and make drum rhythms by banging on tables. The two began making music with their bare hands. They had contests, and Andre would consistently win. But in a short time, his cousin became far more skilled than him. Andre was no longer a challenge, which lead him to discover another gift. Andre began singing along with his cousin’s vocal rhythms. A family member over heard his singing, and encouraged Andre to improve his gift. Andre went to his father, a musician, and asked him what he should do next. His father recommended Andre buy a keyboard. After saving some money, Andre bought his first keyboard. He carried it home, in a bulky box, from a pawn shop a mile away from where he lived. With passion, determination, and some pointers from his dad, Andre became a self-taught keyboard player.
Soon after, Andre met some tough adversity. In May 2000, one week before his high school graduation, Andre was in a head on car/truck collision that nearly took his life. Andre was left with a huge gash at the crown of his head. It had to be closed with twenty large staples, and he also had many other minor injuries from head to toe. While recovering, the near death experience made him greatly aware of his mortality. Remembering his Christian upbringing, Andre attributed his miraculous survival to the grace of God. It was on that day, Andre made a decision to devote his life to the Gospel of Christ. Therefore, his music took on a whole new divine purpose.
Andre began singing and playing piano at the church he grew up in. At Mount Hope Community Baptist Church, he inspired many people on Sunday mornings with his extraordinary voice, and his wonderfully written songs. Soon after, Andre participated in his church choir, and started teaching other talented voices to minister his style. Andre’s music was a fresh and lively new urban contemporary Christian sound. Unlike any other musician in RI, he blends the styles of Jazz, Hip-Hop, R&B and Black Gospel. It’s all held together by the powerful message of The Gospel in his lyrics. It’s clearly evident in his vocal tone that Andre is inspired by old R&B greats like Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke and Luther Vandross. There’s also a sense of newness and similarities between Andre and current Gospel artists. Artists like J. Moss and Fred Hammond have greatly influenced Andre and his style.
