Fel Cognito
AKA: Marcus Stanley
I was raised in the small town of El Dorado, Arkansas, where, as a child, I was exposed to a range of musical genres; including rap, blues, gospel, and even country. Tupac, Howlin'' Wolf, and Garth Brooks, are influences, just to name a few. As time goes on, my life experiences can''t help but influence my music. Who I am today is not who I will be tomorrow. As a result, my musical identity is constantly evolving. I like to think of myself as a storyteller, having a conversation with the listener. I refuse to allow myself to be contained by the flavor of the month, or what is hot on the radio. Rather than simply speaking to the audience, I want the music to connect with the listener and evoke a response.
Collaborations
Throughout my career I''ve worked on projects with marquee artists Juvenile, Twista, Black Rob, KeeK Da Sneek, Tam Tam, Devin tha Dude. I have also worked with professional producers Sean T and Ant Banks. I have recorded in Paramount Studios, A 440, Paisley Park, and Area 51, and mastered at "Bernie Grundman''s Mastering House." These collaborations have given me knowledge, both of what to do and what not to do. Using these experiences, I have continued to refine my music with the intent of truly being a musical force to be reckoned with.
Goals
My Goal in music is to explore and mix different genres, creating my own unique sound and style; to be on the forefront of music, not just in hip hop but in the musical world as a whole. I always keep my eye on the musical horizon, watching for what is yet to come. While my music is undeniably hip-hop, I don''t want to be limited to the genre. My desire to is explore different styles, bringing their characteristics to my own type of hip-hop, creating music that is fresh and challenging. Too many artists have clung to that which gave them success, only to become redundant...that will never happen to me.
