Worship in Song is a collaborative recording project produced, arranged, and performed by Adam and Matt Podd. The Podd brothers are already veteran church musicians, having started their first regular church music ministry at age twelve. In their early years as church musicians they developed a strong foundation in traditional hymnody, while still exploring other musical interests in more contemporary styles. This CD explores the musical possibilities of combining some of the most powerful hymn tunes with gospel, jazz, and contemporary praise styles. The Podd brothers both employ a large amount of creative energy into their individual music ministry at their respective church positions, and decided that Worship in Song would be a great way to share that ministry with congregations and music-lovers worldwide.
Worship in Song was recorded at Trumbull Congregational Church in Trumbull, CT, on the church’s brand new Yamaha baby grand piano. The CD is designed to be a complete worship service experienced entirely through the power of music. With the help of Rev. Matthew Braddock, each hymn tune was selected and arranged to fulfill a particular role in the traditional liturgy. The ten tracks each correspond to one part of the service, as indicated on the CD''s tracklist.
