Ravage is a young, energetic, and unique-sounding band that breathes new
life and a modern flavor into traditional heavy metal. With a Judas Priest-esque
shredding twin guitar attack from Eli Firicano and Nick Izzo, a thundering rhythm
section comprised of the explosive drumming of George ''GTB'' Bellofatto and
stomping bass work of Chris Zenga complimenting the sometimes sardonic snearing
and sometimes soaring vocal work of lead singer Al Ravage, the band is poised
to inject new life into the genre of traditional power metal.
The band formed as far back as 1996 while the members were barely in high school.
They forged their way through the metal underground throughout the 90''s releasing
rough demos and playing dozens of gigs with endless line-up changes
before finally solidifyng their sound and line-up with the release of the acclaimed
"Curse Of Heaven" EP in 2003. The self-released cd saw the band reach international
recogniton as they were chosen for the Heavy Oder Was magazine underground sampler
and were signed to Germany''s Karthago Records. The band released one full-length
album on Karthago, 2005''s "Spectral Rider" which featured strong songs but suffered
from a mediocre production quality.
The band set out to right the wrongs of the release by hiring a new producer and
spending nearly 2 years in and out of the studio working on their next recording.
By 2008 they had recorded more than 15 tracks and were ready to unleash their new
creations on the masses.
The self-released "Freedom Fighter" EP is the band''s first offering from it''s latest
batch of recordings and serves as a precursor to the band''s forthcoming full-length album
"The End Of Tomorrow" - due out in late 2008.
The 6 song EP features top-shelf audio production from Peter Rutcho, the mastermind
behind the experimental metal band Vomitron, and gutarist of thrashers Graveheart.
The 6 songs on the EP showcase the band''s seemless blend of early 80''s NWOBHM,
late 80''s bay-area style thrash, and 90''s european- style power metal, running the
gamut from the mindlessly thrashtastic "The Shredder", to the poignantly anthemic
"Damn Nation". As a special bonus to fans, the disk is closed with the band''s
own take of the Iron Maiden classic "Be Quick Or Be Dead". The "Freedom Fighter"
EP is sure to be enjoyed by metal fans worldwide as they witness a new rise of
classic metal with a ass-kickingly familiar, yet altogether unique sound.
