Details:
The Sundowners'' Music:

Building on the big sound of late 70s and 80s power pop and rock, combined with a passionate delivery and lyrical insight ala U2 and Springsteen, The Sundowners create their own brand of new rock, captured within a 21st Century production. Although The Sundowners wear their influences proudly, the band has a sound and style all its own, always delivered in an earnest fashion.

The Sundowners'' first release:

The self-titled 1998 CD -- simply called ''The Sundowners'' -- was recorded shortly after Todd, Jeff, Ron and Strother came together to form the band. The band collaborated on some previously penned tunes (written by Todd and Jeff as Souldriver) as well as several brand new rock compositions at their Huntersville, North Carolina rehearsal and recording spot of choice, friend Paul Long''s ''Pauly''s Hotel''.
The first CD features songs that helped define The Sundowners'' future songwriting path, such as the standouts ''Drag The River'', ''Can''t Be Satisfied'' and ''Mirror''. The self-titled CD also gave aural hints to what would start to surface after its release, when bigger and better songwriting ideas began to flow during full-band writing and rehearsal sessions.

Band History:

The Sundowners were originally formed in the outskirts of Charlotte, North Carolina''s largest city. Todd Harlan (vocals) and Jeff Vogel (guitar) originally met in high school, where they began to form a friendship based on each of their desires to be songwriters and musicians. While Todd and Jeff continued to perform together throughout high school and afterwards, a few hours away, Ron May (bass) and Strother Bullins (drums) entered college and met in the music department where they became frequent gigging partners. As Ron and Strother continued to perform together, chance had it that all four guys were involved in a battle of the bands at a local club. After meeting that night, the guys quickly evolved into The Sundowners.
Immediately, the newly-formed band began to record their first release together, entitled simply The Sundowners.
The Sundowners have performed extensively around the NC/SC college town circuit, while swinging out to Knoxville and Nashville, Tennessee for a few performances. Now that they have completed their new CD -- October 2001''s ''Strange Hours'' -- the band is ready to expand the reach of their music, through performances, radio airplay, press and online promotion.
