Details:
This project is respectfully dedicated to the memory of Ms. Koregelos'' teacher, Alain Marion. It features the world premiere recording of The Pegasus Suite, written for the artists by Nancy Bloomer Deussen in 1998 and premiered in Berkeley, CA, the same year. The Suite is based on the Greek myth of Pegasus, the flying horse. Born from the foam of the ocean, his adventures include journeying to Mt. Olympus and the stars where Zeus created a constellation in his honor.

After studies with Alain Marion in Paris and James Pappoutsakis at the New England Conservatory of Music, flutist Angela Koregelos made her professional solo debut in London''s Wigmore Hall where the Times hailed "the freshness of her tone and the naturalness of her playing." She returned to the United States and became one of the youngest principal players of the Oakland Symphony where she was often featured as a soloist. She has performed and recorded with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and the Skywalker Symphony where she has participated in numerous projects for film and television. She currently teaches flute and chamber music at Mills College, Oakland, and conducts masterclasses both in the U.S. and abroad. Ms. Koregelos performs on a flute made for her by her father.

Educated at Oxford University and the Royal Academy of Music, English pianist Zoe Smith is frequently in demand at home and abroad as a specialist in the flute repertoire. Through the auspices of the Stratford International Flute Festival and the UNAM Flute Festival in Mexico City, she has performed with a host of internationally acclaimed flutists, most notably with Alain Marion in the Sala Nezahualcoyotl, Mexico City. In addition, she plays harpsichord with the Mexican recorder virtuoso Horacio Franco. She enjoys working with singers, for which she has received both the Megan Foster Prize and the Ferdinand Rauter Award. Miss Smith currently serves as Assistant to the Head of Music at the Welsh College of Music and Drama.
