Details:
"The power of the Goddess shines through Pam...her music connects us deeply and instantly to the light in our hearts. She is an inspiration to us all to dare to be, authentically and powerfully, who we truly are."
— Paul Terrell, Program Director of The Angsbacka Festival, Sweden

Since the debut of her first CD of original songs ''Tripping on the Truth'' in 2001, Canadian Singer/Songwriter Pam Gerrand has been following her muse to some very interesting places. Both sonically and spiritually, Gerrand says the past four years have been about range, risk, and redemption. Her new CD, ''Pray Rain'' reflects her evolution as an artist, and chronicles the beauty and pain that has shaped her in the past few years. The sharpness and sweetness of mortality, brought home by her sister''s and best friend''s journey through cancer; the sweet redemption of rain following drought in the land and the heart; the numinous poetry of mystic Rumi; the steely, sinewy surrender to the dark cold of a Canadian winter...all of these are fodder for Gerrand''s soul stirring offering of 11 songs.

Gerrand is joined by a remarkable band of accomplished, acclaimed musicians on ''Pray Rain'' including Matt Brubeck/cello(Sheryl Crow, Tom Waits, Jewel, Sarah McLauchlan), Jay Riehl/drums(South Mountain, Farmer''s Daughter, Frank Leahy), Steve Hogg/bass(Amy Sky, Ian Thomas, Ronnie Hawkins), Steve O''Connor/piano, B3, wurlitzer(Natalie McMaster, Bruce Cockburn) and Jake Leiske/BG vocals(of Farmer''s Daughter). Producer/guitarist David Kalmusky has credits on over 53 albums as engineer, producer and performer, and has played with a plethora of artists, from pop star Natasha England to country stars Jason McCoy, Sean Hogan and The Wilkinsons.

“''Pray Rain'' is about range, and receiving. It''s about emotional range, the expansion that comes when one is challenged and stretched by life. It''s about musical range as well; this record is eclectic in style...from pop/rock and world music, to latin jazz and country/blues. I''ve loved the stretch musically and vocally on this record , and I am in awe of the imagination and musical mastery David Kalmusky has brought to the project as a producer and artist. This record embodies the gift of opening to receive...relief from the heat, both physically and emotionally in our inner and outer worlds, and opening to receive the healing waters of forgiveness and redemption, in whatever form that takes."

Pam’s international career was launched in May 2004 at the mind body spirit festival in London, England, where she had the honour of being the sole Canadian performer and workshop leader. Gerrand has been referred to as a prophet for our times, and her music and words touch a place within the heart of the listener that is starkly revealing and resonant. Her interest in sound healing and ancient chants led her to record ''Coming hOMe'', a fusion of her original poetry and the 4,000 year old Sanskrit chant, The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra. The release of this CD in 2004 opened the door for further travels with her ''musical medicine''; she returned to the mind body spirit festival in May 2005 to perform on the festival stage and present her workshop ''Deep Song'' to a sold out audience. In July 2006 Pam had the honour of performing the finale concert at the Angsbacka Festival in Sweden, the largest music and healing arts festival in Northern Europe.

Gerrand''s career as a performer has been vast and varied; as an actress and singer, she has played lead roles in theatres from Victoria to Charlottetown, including four years in the Acting Company at the Stratford Festival. Her first CD ''Tripping on the Truth'' was met with warm and glowing reviews, and her spiral path as singer-songwriter began to quickly ascend. In 2002 she performed to an audience of 2,200 people at the Hummingbird Center, as guest soloist with the Canada Pops Orchestra. That summer, she performed ''More Grace'', a song she penned about her sister''s journey through cancer, at the National Arts Center in Ottawa. She has opened for folk icons Valdy, Murray MacLauchlan and Connie Kaldor, and in 2003 had a private audience with Oscar-winning songwriter Paul Williams, where she sang the song ''Everything'' he penned, twice...at Paul''s request!

In October 2004, Pam was named ''Woman of the Year'' in the arts in Stratford, Ontario, her home base for a dozen years now, an affirmation of her respected place in this community of world class artists. A further honour followed that year as Pam Gerrand was chosen to be featured as a subject of the 2005 edition of ''Herstory'', a highly regarded calendar, ''celebrating the efforts and achievements of Canadian women who have worked to make the world a better place.’
