The band started out in 2005 in Pretoria, South Africa. After a very successful self-produced first album (which has been nominated for a few awards in S.A), Vertikaal signed with Merchant Music, to record their second album “Stil” in 2008! The album consists of all original music from the pen of Vertikaal, sung in Afrikaans (one of South Africa’s eleven official languages) and English.
Think Acoustic rock meets melodic and harmonious pop, and add poetic lyrics that hit home, and you will have more or less described the sound of “Vertikaal”!
