GOSPEL: Contemporary Gospel, GOSPEL: Country Gospel

Worship leader and singer-songwriter Thomas LeFevre's performing life began in the basement of a United Brethren church in Elkhart, Indiana. He was just old enough to stand up with his family in a church variety show. As a teenager, his love of music grew to include gospel, country, folk, and rock. "Way back when, my sister and I used to sneak a radio upstairs and tune in Nashville's WLAC. There was magic in the air then, and any budding musician lucky enough to see Elvis, the Everly's, Buddy Holly, and the Beatles debut on Ed Sullivan, was never the same."

While a soloist in the Purdue Glee Club, Thomas performed in places like the Hollywood Palladium, Chicago's Orchestra Hall, and the Starlight Room of New York's Waldorf-Astoria. After college, he went east and worked with Stephen Sondheim in an original musical, and was a principal soloist in the Vienna premiere of Leonard Bernstein's "Mass".

His journey as a Christian songwriter began after his first child was baptized in the rain on a church camping retreat. "All good songs have power to connect with people on timeless subjects. But good Christian and gospel songs have the Holy Spirit helping to inspire." He adds, "I hear lots of great sermons, but in three minutes, a song can deliver a line or two that a searching soul may never forget - and take away whistling, to boot!"

His upbeat "River of Grace" twelve-song CD ranges in styles from "session jazz" and Christian pop to Southern Gospel and Christian country - with a nice new Christmas Song. Listen to the updated Good Samaritan lesson, "What Jesus Would Say" at your own risk.
