UMPHREY JACKSON, a resident of S. FL when he''s not performing around the world, is a man with an innate talent to transform any significant moment into a song. He began songwriting during his teenage years at Nürnberg American High School in Nürnberg, Germany. Little did the teenaged Umphrey know that one day he would write several songs based on the memories made at NHS. On Ump''s CD, DEDICATED TO THOSE WHO WILL REMEMBER, all the songs, with the exception of one, were inspired by his high school years.
Today, the multi-talented UMPHREY JACKSON is a composer, producer, musican and singer, but before all those exciting occupations were attached to his name, he learned the music trade as a roadie.
In the early 80s, after college at the University of Alabama, Umphrey knew his passion for music would lead him to his profession for life. From 1981 until 1992, Ump worked as a roadie for Lee Greenwood, Vince Gill, Cher, 38 Special, Molly Hatchet, Night Ranger, The Judds, The Commodores, The Ohio Players and many other artists.
