The Gospel Hymns Collection is a compilation of some of my favorite songs from the earlier years of my music ministry. The first four numbers are from the very first solo recording that I did early in 1979 - pre "Sweet Beulah Land", on a recording entitled, "Gospel Favorites". Anthony Burger is the accompanist on these four numbers. These numbers are in a very fluid conserative style of music which I enjoy very much.
The remaining numbers are from the recordings entitled "I''ll Have A New Song" and "Gospel Selections" which are from the early 1980''s. My bus driver at that time was "Big Mack", who listened to country music continually; obviously some of that style influenced me in the performance and arrangements of Redeemed, My Name Is Written There, and I Feel Like Traveling On Medley.
The closing two numbers, Holy, Holy, Holy, and The Ninety And Nine are once again arranged and performed in the conservative style with very simple instrumentation.
I considered adding updated music tracks to these numbers but decided rather to let them stand as they are and pray that they would minister to each of you in their simple musical form.
