ROCK: Modern Rock, ROCK: Americana

Details:
"An immaculately produced and performed album. The musicianship on display here is of the highest order; with the help of a handful of multi-instrumentalists, Welmore Mile and producer John Hermanson made these spiritual tributes sound so smooth, you''d swear [God] polished them Himself"
-Splendid Magazine

"Stunning...it''s quite easy to say that they do what they do exceedingly well, with careful attention to craft. They also made sure that the overall sound didn''t come across as too polished, letting a little grit and weary warmth emerge for a very moving listen."
-South of Mainstream

"Choices Collide is filled with hooks, catchy chorus lines, and bouncy melodies...[Welmore Mile] slow things down, let the songs progress, and have their guitars dictate the saga."
-Applauze

"The band wears their spirituality and their hearts on their sleeves. Their sincerity makes the album all the more endearing as they (often subtly) croon of the struggles of staying faithful to a faithful God...''Choices Collide'' is a solid debut album. For fans of college rock, Welmore Mile is a band to watch."
-Static Magazine

Peter Welle and Jon Gilmore began playing and writing music together in the summer of 2000. Informed by Peter''s love of melodic craftsmen like the Beatles and U2 and Jon''s taste for rhythmic songwriters like Dave Matthews and John Mayer, the music Peter and Jon made together proved to be charged and immediate.

Performing as Ashes for Beauty, they spent the next two years writing songs and refining their live shows. Before long, their shows grew into the bright, funny, and poignant acoustic pop/rock performances that they are today.

In the spring of 2003 they entered the studio with producer John Hermanson (Alva Star, Storyhill, Brenda Weiler) to begin work on their debut album Choices Collide. Recording on and off throughout that summer, they explored sounds and pushed the acoustic boundaries of their music into realms of rock, alt-country, and beyond.

Emerging from the studio in the fall of 2003, Peter and Jon changed their name to Welmore Mile. This new name, referencing a location from their shared past, was evocative of both their new sound and their maturing lyrical themes.

NOTES ON THE ALBUM:
The studio experience was a remarkable one for us. With the help of our producer, John Hermanson, we were able to explore the sonic boundaries of our songs, and take them in different directions. Though we love the acoustic sound of our live performances, we felt that many of the songs we had written were best suited to a full band sound. We were happy to wear our influences on our sleeve, from Coldplay to Wilco, from Willie Nelson to Radiohead, we loved being able to straddle so many genres. We''re incredibly pleased with the results, and we think you will be too.
