Details:
KDB3 is the alter ego of Doug Bowers, a multi-instrumentalist singer / song writer who makes his home on the gulf coast of North West Florida. Fresh from his inclusion on the CPR 3 compilation with his band, Ad Astra, Doug’s solo release, VERITE, stands solidly in the progressive rock tradition without being bombastic or unnecessarily complex. This isn’t your 70s progressive rock knock off, Doug brings modern driving melodies, guitar lines and synth riffs to fill the ears and delight any fan of the genre. Be certain that the themes represented reflect Doug’s Christian faith, but you won’t be lectured or preached into submission. Lyrically you’ll find honesty, humor, irony and cause for self reflection.

A solo artist in the strictest sense of the word, Doug played or programmed all instruments save for a guitar solo, a conga track and a few backing vocal tracks. He recorded, mixed and produced VERITE himself leaving the mastering process to Audio Digital’s Gene Crout, co-producer of the CPR series.

Many people who grew up in the mainstream of Progressive Rock music of the 70s still have the desire for music that reflects an age when musicians were about music and creativity. VERITE is a CD that hits all the marks, pulls no punches and makes you want to be part of the Truth.

Placing its role as a music ministry before that of a mainline music production company, Three In One Records will donate all proceeds from the sale of all formats of VERITE to Immanuel Anglican Church in Destin, Florida and the Anglican Church of Rwanda.

Doug began his professional career in 1973 at age 15 as keyboardist/guitarist and lead singer for the band Brandywine The band played the rough watering holes in coal mining communities surrounding Morgantown, West (by God) Virginia until the summer of 1975. He had a short stint playing bass for The Wings of Judah, a Contemporary Christian Band when the genre was still in its infancy. The gig didn''t last, but a seed had been planted in the soul of the hard partying rocker who then ventured into the college bar circuit as bassist and lead vocalist for hard rockers, Malcolm Talbot.
A move to the Northern Gulf Coast of Florida in 1982 found a lonely musician without a gig. Fort Walton Beach was a small beach town with a plethora of quality musicians content to play the local bars. Doug stumbled into a gig playing keyboards and bass for the infamous Lobotomy Brothers. The R&B band was a lively group of defense contractor-engineers with a rather intense following. Several years and several bands later, Doug found himself tiring of the secular bar band gigs and longing to return to the seed that had been planted years ago. It was then that he decided to commit his muse to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Answered prayer lead to a outpouring of songs in need of a medium. Doug sought the advice of numerous friends on both the performance and production sides of the business looking for a means of expression. The ultimate goal was to put together a band of like minded musicians eager to play original music. A demo given to a friend with experience on both sides of the recording console convinced Doug that he could go it alone. That he did and he hasn''t looked back.
Doug writes, records and produces music during domestic down time. Although his taste in music ranges from classical to progressive metal, progressive rock influences are evident in the majority of his songs. His lyrics come from life experiences and his rather orthodox Christian worldview. Comparisons aside, Doug simply writes the songs as they are presented to him by the Master Songwriter. Pretty simple concept. Recording and production tasks are carried out literally "in house". Doug plays and sings all but the hard parts which he farms out to various friends in the business.
