JOEY GRAZIANO "A Road Well Traveled"

Multi-faceted musician Joey Graziano has been part of the tri-state area music scene for many years. He has played historic venues and has a passion that is embraced within his body of work which is readily evident in his songwriting and musicianship.

With A Road Well Traveled, Joey runs the gamut from sensitive to strong, agile to thought provoking. The CD opens with a burst of loud guitar licks steadily building to a classic rock stanza. The instrumental passage connects to "Dreaming of Jamaica" in which the island paradise is depicted sensuously framed by electric guitar nuances.

The plucky "Cookies" is a cute sidestep sans vocals, comparable to Paul McCartney''s first solo LP. The layers of guitar on "Angel in Waiting" is another one of Graziano''s signature instrumentals.

The poppy "Could WE Meet Again" is a free-form postcard laced with high vocals coated with a fusion of harmony. "Rainbow" is a brightly stamped instrumental reflecting sky of blue with a polished box of chords.

"Lightly Cool" is a pop artifact from yesteryear, sporting distilled vocals a la 1960''s icon Donovan. "My Blues Are Starting To Show" is a country-blues hybrid designed to reel one in with its quirky lyrics, but its 180 degrees from any other tune on this CD. The down-home fretwork takes this cut to its logical conclusion.

"The Landing" starts with space-age noises and fanfare, leading up to a wash of keyboards, and an overture of classically minded instrumentation. This collection is half vocal and half instrumental, a format that showcases the artist''s work and is a vehicle to display his adept musical capabilities.

Joey Graziano may be a veteran on the music scene, but his voice is fresh and unscarred, leaving room for the rainbows.

CD Review - Joey Graziano - "A Road Well Traveled"
By Stacey Board : Associate Music Reviewer(Utah)

*Graziano''s sound can be soft or full of energy but the overall tone is that of Classic Rock.

The CD cover is a very humble artfully decorated cardboard sleeve. Graziano is a guitar player with a lot of music accompaniment, and a very good guitar player he is. He has a clean yet richly emotive tone to his electric guitar. He also seems to be playing some acoustic on some tracks and it also sounds good.

His influences seem to be "Led Zeppelin''s" softer acoustic side, a touch of "Donovan" poetry in the lyrics, a little psychedelia, and perhaps a dash of "Pat Matheny".

Graziano has a nice way with melody and harmony and the songs are all enjoyable. Some of the strongest in my opinion are "Lightly Cool" for its melody and "My blues are starting to show" for its especially fine guitar work. Most of the tracks are under three minutes or barely over it. He is a very skilled guitar player that has the rare gift of knowing how to not overnoodle.

CD REVIEW: Joey Graziano - "A Road Well Traveled"
By Brian Rutherford : Associate Music Reviewer(Texas)

*It wasn''t too long ago I was in high school walking down the hall past the school band teacher. Often times I wondered just what kind of music a high school teacher made when he''s not molding children. With the arrival of Joey Grazianos'' 2003 release "A Road Well Traveled", I was finally in (a) position to hear just that - one high school teacher''s vibe of this thing called music.

An enormous amount of comparisons can be quickly made to the beginning of the CD to rock legends Pink Floyd''s early 60''s music. The addition of 80''s like synth beat on the song "Come and Play" make''s it a kind of 60''s trip/rock music with catchy down beats.

Vocally throughout the disc I''m left with a hankering for some Syd Barrett. More so concentrating on the paths of Dreamy/Pop, track seven "Cruiser" manages to pick up the pace with its theme song-like vibes.

Joey (who sews all forms of writing and instrumental tapestry) manages to throw together quite the gorge of diversity. Anyone still reeling over Timbuk3, or David and David''s "Boomtown" would be filthily satisfied with "A Road Well Traveled."

CD REVIEW: Joey Graziano - "A Road Well Traveled"

*A Great Melodic R&R Antidote to Boring Radio Fodder

This CD is high on great harmonies & melodies. It''s a real R&R antidote to the droning heavy metal that passes for R&R these days. Graziano''s guitar work is excellent, and there is no solo there that doesn''t belong. My favorite in this mode is "My Blues Are Starting to Show," which has some nice bluesy guitar tones (more like Dave Edmunds and Eric Clapton).
His vocal style is immediately likeable, and recalls T. Rex on many of the songs. The instrumentals are also standouts, like "Cruiser" -- great catchy melody. It also features an E-Bow!
The finale is an interesting soundscape, which could easily be a moody film soundtrack. It reminds me of some of the things the late Oskar Sala did on the Trautonium (Hitchcock''s "The Birds" soundtrack, for example). Over all this is a highly recommended upbeat CD
