Before explaining the report in more detail, Id first like to explain how this report came into being:

In January 2007 my Mom and my two Sisters approached me about setting up a website. Their topic is an extremely popular one in which they are avid enthusiasts. Just as important, the topic is a hobby which requires money, not just a one time, but continuously... Perfect for a profitable niche website, and after experimenting with different ideas I decided to create a WordPress blog. WordPress might not be the best content management system, but it is very easy to use and WordPress blogs are very easy to get traffic to, especially from the search engines.

I wanted to give my Mom and my sisters the best possible starting point so all they had to do was add content. To do so I studied successful bloggers and investigated the following:

How did they write their articles?

How often did they publish blog posts?

How did they monetize their blogs?

How did they optimize their blogs?

How did they promote their blogs?

This report is the results of my research. It is based partly on my own experiences and partly on how experienced professional bloggers operate. I also took into account tips gleaned from less experienced bloggers, their mistakes, their light bulb moments and their research.
