Had a stressful day? Well then, turn on this CD and lay back in your easy chair and let your muscles go as you turn up the bass control, and the deep expansive sounds of Les''s Roland and E-mu keyboard modules just probably will take all that tension right out of your twisted, sore, aching nerves. It''s like an American Pink Floyd or a hard rock band of the 1980''s in slow motion. It''s Dillanesque.
Les has received high scores in the Annual Billboard Song Contest in the year 2000 for "Making Time" and "Everybody Did OK Today." He also won a 5th place award in the 1997 Follow That Dream Song Contest for "Blues and Fiddles," released by Hilltop Records in 1995.
Contrast the bluesy "A Different Day" with the countrified "This Ain''t No Love Song" or "I''m Gonna Get Me a Contract" and the slow soulful disco sound of "Gimme Some Rock n Roll." Listen to the sublime keyboard improvisation "One A.M. Approach" or the synthesized Roland jams "Centrifugal Force" or "Triangle" with their slow grooving rhythm and keyboard effects. Check out the ballads "Memories Remain" and "Homeward Bound" with their sequenced keyboard multitracking and soulful vocals.
Les has played cover music from the 60''s, 70''s, and 80''s in the band One Nite Stand around Minnesota for the last 12 years, and recently earned a M.A. degree in the Business of Music in 2003. Les is a veteran of the bar scene and the road, previously playing with the Cloudy Towne Strutters from St. Cloud, and was in several bands from Minneapolis. He also plays liturgical organ and piano, and was an orchestral violinist.
"Making Time" was featured in the St. Cloud Times in January 2004, and his CD and songs are available on https://www.tradebit.com, https://www.tradebit.com, and https://www.tradebit.com, and many other internet sites. All lyrics, vocals, keyboards, drum machine programing, and arrangements are his own. One Nite Stand guitarist Larry Anderson sat in on electric guitar for "A Different Day" and a special thanks to Ron Thienes for some of the bass tracks.
