MP3 Minan - Even So
catchy melodic asian influenced pop/rock with a back to basics approach that goes every which way, any which way...
12 MP3 Songs
POP: New Wave, WORLD: World Fusion
New for 2004! Still every which way, any which way the cretive wind blows.
As before, emphasis is placed on the music. This is what an individual, intent on being herself, does.
Imagination coupled with something to say is the spark that ignites the flame that burns brighter than ever. A trace of jasmine on the wind, a fragrant odor in a puff of smoke rising through the air. A hint of things to come, something good, something bad, something happy, something sad. Something old, something new, , something blue: something here for me and you.
"EVEN SO" is definitely a studio intensive work, an electonic produciton exploting the sonic capabilities of Native Instuments collection of soft synths (such as Reaktor, Hammond B4, Pro 52, Tasman and others). It features angelic choirs emanating from Big Tick''s wonderfully dreamy, heavenly, very breathy, Angelina plug in. Mini moog like sounds, textures and leads created in Vaz Modular also come into play here. Blend in a mixture of guitar, paino, and other sundry instruments and, voila, a virtual orchestration that will have you tapping your toes in no time at all. The heavy metallish "CHILDREN BEWARE" should definitely rock your socks off. "NOT TOO FAR AWAY" also rocks in it''s own way. Whatever the case, there is a delicate balance ain regards to variety of flavours that should whet your appetite, , you might possibly find yourself with an insatiable desire for more of the same.
Technical considerations aside, it''s basically a pop/rock album assembled with thought and consideration to the fact that the songs themselves count more than anything. technology, the musician has, in the studio, greater advantages and capabilities than ever before. Still, technology cannot and does not replace musicality. Neither does it make up for a lack of musicianship in the artist. Minan is, first and foremost, a musician, the kind who still prefers to sit at a pianoandkeyboard when it is time to write a new song. Still plays Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart and Bach with a passion and these, among others, are the "pop idols" who have had a definite influence on Minan''s thinking musically.
According to Minan, melody is important and she simply cannot write a song without one. As she has often said, music ought to be based on more than just beats. Rhythm is very important. So is harmony.
"EVEN SO" is not an album of party music. . If, however, you are searching for something akin in spirit to the music of artists such as, say, the Beatles, the Moody Blues, Procol Harum, King Crimson, Genesis, Fleetwood Mac, The Eurythmics, Abba, Gentle Giant, Pink Floyd, Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, Santana, Mongo Santamaria, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Weather Report, Soft Machine, Stevie Wonder, Alex Chilton and the Box Tops, Janis Ian, Timi Yuro, Helen Reddy, Otis Redding, Tina Turner, Cher, Annie Haslam, Rennaisance, the Small Faces, Cat Stevens, Keith Hampshire, the Guess Who, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, George Harrison, Gilbert Osullivan, Hoagy Catmichael, Fats Waller, Ray Charles, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Jan And Dean, the Beach Boys, the Doors, the Lovin Spoonful, the Mamas And Papas, Donovan, the Velvet Underground, Wings, the Zombies, Argent, Ten Years After, Genya Ravan, Dave Edmunds, Norman Greenbaum, Elton John, Van Morrison, Yes, and so on, you have arrived at a good destination.
