Details:
Jay Dunbar (born June 12, 1982), better known as JAYDUN, is an American rapper and part owner of Aviator Entertainment LLC.

Biography

Early Years
JAYDUN was born and raised in Detroit, MI. His father, born and raised in Natchez, Mississippi, was married to his mother on June 1, 1978. As a child JAYDUN loved playing sports, especially basketball and football. Although he was generally smaller than the average kid he was able to excel on the court and the field. As JAYDUN got older his “hoop” dreams would fade away into something much more special.

Adolescence
At the age of fifteen, while attending Detroit’s Cass Technical High School, JAYDUN began writing raps and poetry. To this day, JAYDUN claims the most important rap that he ever wrote was his first one. This first song was filled with profanities and dreams of living a fast life and was in essence “fake” due to the fact that JAYDUN was more of a student than a gangster. After his father found this infamous rap song, JAYDUN was expecting the worst, but his father simply told him that if he was going to write songs those songs ought to be fact and not fiction. From there JAYDUN’s writing began rolling. After transferring to Detroit’s Renaissance High School, JAYDUN became one of the Founding Members of the “Illiance”.

College Years
One of JAYDUN’s dreams was to get accepted to the University of Michigan (U of M) where he could study Engineering. In the spring of 2000 JAYDUN was accepted to 4 different universities including U of M. Though he was accepted to U of M JAYDUN had to decide which dream he was going to pursue more. In the summer of 2000 he decided to study Engineering at Wayne State University (Detroit, MI) in order to remain active in the rap group “The Industry”. This group consisted of JAYDUN, Legacy (Korey McMeekins – friend), J Grammar (Jerold Graham – friend), and Al Supreme (Albert Cobb – friend). Though this group never produced an industry album, JAYDUN credits his time in “The Industry” as one of the most influential and mind opening experiences in his life. His style and delivery skills were sharpened and the “swagger” was beginning to display through songs like “Who Run It” and “Sunshine”. After JAYDUN left “The Industry” he went through a period he describes as “finding himself” and stopped recording for several years.

Present
After a brief hiatus JAYDUN went through a period he describes as “The Hungry Times”. During this period he was crafting and mastering his new sound and style. This sound is now referred to as “Aviator Music”. JAYDUN built a catalog of songs which consisted of content about everything from Hip Hop, Street Life, Realationships/Opposite Sex, Uplifting, and “Swagger” tracks. He began seriously recording music again in 2007. JAYDUN felt that was the year he was finally ready to let his music be heard by the world.

JAYDUN presents : Aviator Music
JAYDUN presents “Aviator Music” is a culmination of 26 years of joy, pain, love, achievement, failure, confidence, and fear. It is the epitome of JAYDUN. It tells the story of where JAYDUN comes from but also gives you an idea of where he is headed now. Aviator music is the essence of taking flight, striving for perfection and never giving up. It represents remaining true to yourself but also not being afraid to reach out and learn new things. Buckle those seat belts because its time to take FLIGHT!!!!!!!
