" I managed to get hold of a copy of this album at a Moth gig in South London - I fell in love with Tina''s voice live, and the CD thankfully contains a few of the songs she performed live. It starts off with "Outside Ourselves" which is a really mellow laid back track - there is a kind of melancholy about it which reminds me of Karen Carpenter for some reason. This is followed up by the slightly rockier "The Moment is Dying", which has some great rock guitar on it. It''s hard to describe a song that is simultaneously rocky and laid back - but this song somehow manages to be both at once. "Out of this World" is more upbeat and again has Tina''s creamy vocals over some great guitar picking, and the rocky guitar picks up a wah-wah pedal. Tina''s vocal on this really reminds me of Annie Lennox. The next track is one of my favourites on "Children for a Day" - it''s called "That Old Sofa Called Love" and it is apparently based on a true story. Moth did this live, and projected a music video, which I later found on youtube. It''s just cool. "Boiling Below the Surface" changes the mood to a more downbeat, weirdly folky tune which features a bunch of instruments I can''t even name! it''s like spacedust for your ears'' tastebuds and reminds me of another band I love, Sopwith Camel - kind of 1960''s sound. The next track on "Children for a Day" is an acoustic track, "Losing Cards", which to me sounds really honest and heartfelt. "Paper Cut" is another one that Moth did live - with live guitar it sounds great - but it takes the album in a real old time jazzy direction. "Children for a Day" then goes back into a melancholic feel for "It''s Raining on My Parade" and "Daisy", but the best track I think is the last song, which the album is named after - "Children for a Day" which has gorgeously light hearted lyrics and it''s actually a love song. Listening to this album really leaves you feeling like you have been through a walk of emotions, in a very relaxed way, but it leaves you wanting more!"
