This two-page tab focuses on two key areas of the song: the head or introduction, in which the harp player kicks off the song, and the first twelve bars of the solo by Kim Wilson from the LUDELLA album by Jimmy Rodgers. Because of the fast tempo of KWs solo and the extended sixteenth-note passages it includes, that half of this lesson clearly falls into the ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE category.
Technical challenges include everything but overblows! Youll need to have your 2, 3, and 4 draw bends in great shape (the song requires two distinct bends on each of the lower two holes). Some of the faster passages require double-tonguing. Tongue-blocked octaves are required at various points. This lesson is a master class in serious blues harmonica. IF YOURE IN ANY DOUBT ABOUT WHETHER YOU CAN HANDLE THIS LESSON, PLEASE CHECK OUT THE PREVIEW. In the video lesson, also available at Tradebit, I take you through both tab sheets in slow-motion as well as more quickly. (I also offer a somewhat easier version of the song, Mojo 1.0; you can find it easily by googling gussow tradebit mojo 1.0.)
Harp key: A
