Biography of Darius Connor
As an up-and-coming artist from San Antonio, Texas, Darius Connor has proven his ability to be a great gospel artist through his talent and his dedication to the ministry of music. With the release of his first album titled “Uplifted” (release date not yet confirmed), many will be encouraged and inspired to stay in the race. It combines a contemporary music style with a genuine gospel message. Possessing a humble and sincere spirit, he is bound for success!
Connor was born to Charla Flippin in November 15, 1985 in San Antonio, Texas. Before he could even walk, he was inspired by his aunt, Veree Kilby, who would play gospel music almost constantly around the house and in her gospel music store she owned. She noticed that he was excited by it, so she continued to plant seeds. His love for gospel continued.
When Connor was only 4 years old, his aunt presented him singing his first solo Jesus Loves Me. Throughout the years he was involved in many different singing engagements and participated in his church choir. Soon after graduating high school, Darius started a community choir in San Antonio called Adoration that was comprised of young adults and youth. The choir turned out be a success, becoming well known outside the limits of San Antonio. He thought that his season of leading a community choir would last longer than it did, but God was calling him into the ministry to preach the gospel. In his obedience to God, he resigned from his role as leader of Adoration and started concentrating on the word of God.
In 2005, Connor preached his first sermon at the Greater Tree Mount Temple Church in San Antonio, which was the church he grew up in. After witnessing and/or hearing about his call to the ministry, other pastors around the city invited him to deliver the gospel message. He is still active in his call as a preacher.
Soon after accepting his call to preach, Connor started singing with the San Antonio born group Garry Thompson and Set Free. They had the opportunity to sing at many different events. They also sang back-up for gospel stars such as J.J. Hairston and Garry Mays. He also took on the role as worship leader at The True Vision Church for 2 years. He sang with Garry Thompson and Set Free for a few years before he felt God pulling him in a another direction.
Darius Connor realized that God was orchestrating something in his life when he positioned right people in his life to help jumpstart his music career. He is currently working to complete his first album titled “Uplifted” This album will truly “Uplift” your spirit!
