Jenny is a melodic folk-punk collective based in Calgary, Alberta. Featuring singer-songwriter Sean Hamilton, bass player Brian Vandekamp, as well as approximately 20 rotating musicians, artists, and friends, and the production guidance of Eric Andrews, as well as the PR prowess of Justin Parsons, Jenny is set to release their first studio album.
It started with Hamilton writing socially conscious lyrics to a few acoustic songs. What came after was a series of basement recordings followed by basement shows at Jenny main dive, T.A. Vern’s on 8th. Hamilton left to the beauty of the costal mountains to pursue his education and change the world, while never stopping the raging song mill that is now his discography. Over Christmas breaks and summer vacations, Hamilton continued playing, writing and recording.
Hamilton went through school for a year and a half before he realized he could change the world through entertainment rather than education. He moved back to Calgary to live in his previous bands studio/jam space/house. He reconnected with Vandekamp, who was on his way to Vancouver to start fresh with new bands. Within a month, they had signed a lease on Jenny HQ and began recording the full length, newly commited to making their own scene in a sea of cowboy hats.
Now, with a full length ready to go, a growing friend-base, and a revitalized need to make the local arts community stronger, Jenny is making Calgary their own.
